(I usually use whole milk.) Take off the heat before it boils. Don&#8217;t let it boil!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3 cups milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a mixing bowl, combine the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 cup flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cup soft butter @ room temperature<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the butter\/flour\/salt mixture is blended + milk is heated, alternate adding milk + flour to the mixing bowl making sure the milk is completely blended with each addition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Add the yeast mixture to the dough + fully incorporate it. Add more flour until the dough pulls away from the sides + is just a bit sticky. Knead dough until the dough is smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>about 8 cups of flour will be used<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cover and let rise once for about 1 &#8211; 1 \u00bd hours in a warm place until it is double in size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heat oven to 375<sup>o<\/sup>F.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pinch zwieback + set on greased or parchment-lined pans, cover + let rise for about 30 minutes. (This is usually the time it takes to pinch out the batch of zwieback.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bake for 8 &#8211; 12 minutes until golden brown on top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enjoy with butter + jam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Question or comments?
