he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh, Hi,&#8221; she said nervously, hoping he hadn&#8217;t noticed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Where are you?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m in here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How was your day?&#8221; he asked, leaning down to kiss the top of her head.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Um, busy.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Shopping and all of that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Shopping?&#8221; he asked as he opened the refrigerator.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Not much to eat here,&#8221; he muttered around the stainless steel door.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh, it was other stuff,&#8221; she said, hesitatingly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh, okay,&#8221; he said, pulling out a container of leftovers and popping it open.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;I&#8217;m going outside,&#8221; he said as he headed for the door to the recently-expanded garage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Um, James?&#8221; Her voice sounded tremulous.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 He turned to look at her.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 She couldn&#8217;t say it.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 He would have to find out for himself.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Nothing&#8230;&#8221; she muttered, turning away.<\/p>\n<p>He cocked his head to the side for a second, muttered a, &#8220;hmph,&#8221; and turned toward the door.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 What he saw there put ice in his veins.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 There, next to the door, sitting on a stool, were two hats.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 It could only mean one thing.<\/p>\n<p>Any thoughts of anger or hatred suspended themselves, not wanting to come, wanting the awful truth to somehow be false, to spare them their work.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Somehow, his heart knew what his brain couldn&#8217;t grasp.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 It sunk as the icy veins passed their contents, and his arms and legs somehow lurched for the door.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Leftovers spilled from his hand all over the kitchen floor.\u00c3\u0192\u00e2\u20ac\u0161\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 The door seemed to fling itself open, and his knees buckled, hitting the pavement hard while his throat loosed a souful wail&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Part 1, in case you missed it) &#8220;Honey, I&#8217;m home,&#8221;
