Reedley Fiesta Art Show entry

Hi, Shinnfans,

It’s time for another game of ‘Shinnfans choose something really important for me.’  No, I’m not turning over naming rights for our next baby.  Instead, I’d like to solicit your opinion on an art piece I plan to enter in the Reedley Fiesta Art Show Oct 11.  I have one piece picked out, and it’s a piece I refuse to put online.  I’ll only show it in person.  But I’m allowed two submissions, and I’d like to have YOU take a look at my alternatives and vote for your favorite.  Here are the rules:

  • Leave a comment on this post with your vote

That’s the only rule.  Feel free to discuss the relative merits of the pieces and explain your choice.  I’ll take it all into account.

Cheers,

Andrew

Truck Rollover

Last night, an 18-wheeler with a full load of grape bins rolled over at the corner of I Street and Manning Avenue in Reedley, Calif. I assume the driver was hurt, but I’m sure I would have heard if he had been killed. The truck was successfully righted by local towing companies and the Reedley Fire Department. Thanks to the good men and women of Reedley Fire for their good work tonight and cooperation as I took these photos.

Cousins together

Lisa took pictures of Greta and Liam together the other day. Enjoy!

Papa and Mitzi’s 60th Wedding Anniversary

Here are some photos from the anniversary party. Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa, for your example of a loving marriage! We’re all blessed by your devotion to each other.

Liam’s Big Boy Bed

Liam got a new big boy bed from Auntie Lois. He has done pretty well for the two nights he’s been sleeping in it. The first night, it had the mattress from Auntie Lois and I wanted to put his, more sturdy, mattress on it instead. He cried and cried when we took the Auntie Lois mattress out and put his in, so we made the switch. I proceeded to put a mattress pad and sheet on the A.L. mattress and still he cried. I think we went to read and get his mind off of the mattress situation and came back a little later. He fell asleep on his “new” A.L. mattress and I have yet to switch it out for his crib mattress. Let’s all hope he doesn’t notice! He’s growing up so fast!

Senior Portraits at the beach

This afternoon, we were shooting with a senior brother and sister set, Adam and Alyssa, in Morro bay. It was a mid-day shoot in Cayucos and near Morro Rock. The harsh sun was challenging, but we managed with a lot of help from Lisa and their mom and a few lighting tricks. Thanks for a fun afternoon, Adam and Alyssa!

Beach photos part I

Here are a few photos from last night’s evening expedition to the beach. E-mail me if you’d like a copy of any of then printed really large on canvas (and signed by the artist)!

Greta’s First Birthday Party

This was last weekend.  Enjoy the photos, and happy birthday Greta!

Brad and Laura’s Wedding

Brad, the groom had an odd request: He asked if he and his bride could have a photo with us. We were massively flattered. It meant we had accomplished our goal: to make the happy couple so comfortable with us on their wedding day that we felt like family. It was a beautiful wedding, and we are honored that Brad and Laura chose us to capture it for them. Thanks, Brad and Laura! Blessings to you!
